The end of the year has crept up once again and 2006 was eventful as always... Ganesh and I started off the year house wiring in Mahendranagar at his parent's place where I was inducted into the fine art of breaking bricks, embedding wires into walls and keeping a circuit plan in your head! We had a lazy and relaxing february doing a changing rooms style renovation on Mac Cyber before it was back to the books for us both - Ganesh for his design major and me for the final year of software engineering! Other family members hitting the books were Ram, Ganesh's brother, and Andrew, my brother, both finishing up year 12, as well as Tilak who enrolled in his first year of a physics degree (as a 2nd year, I knew what he was in for!), Padam enrolling in a Masters of English and of course Lachlan who cruised through the academic year like a fish with flippers!
The middle of the year passed quickly. Ganesh was working hard at Mac, I quit my job at Maths and Learning Excellence with a report to Industrial Relations and our website development business started to blossom. We continued to work for the Connectivity for Refugees project, and became involved in Medley Mag and the Australian Conservation Foundation. Ganesh's cousins (and housemates) had their second child, Anamol, as well as house guests from Dadheldura village up for Dashain, and we had old friends from the US come to stay and help us win trivia evenings! The most significant event was the declaration of peace between the Maoist rebels and the Nepalese Government ~ what a relief!
The highlight of the year was our journey through Thailand, which you can read all about on the travel pages... and yes, we did get caught up in a coup again! But the year wasn't over yet! Dad headed off to Italy and on his return we discovered he was getting remarried... surprise! Exams passed quickly, and I started my Summer job at Synergetics working to combat Climate Change right about the time Mum was forced to move out of her house and into storage... For those that have experienced a 'Mum Move', you can imagine what it involved - many moral issues for a law abiding budding environmentalist! We topped off the year with a celebration of Grandma's 50 years at Tourello avenue and Christmas at the zoo.. but still no word on the progress of the visa application, except to say its 'under process' ...
With the approach of 2007, a new year and a new start, we look forward to a little more stability!
Happy New Year Everyone!
